MAX PLANCK ASTRONOMIE

MAX PLANCK INSTITUTE FOR ASTRONOMY
CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE ANNUAL REPORT
For more than 10 years now, Baker & Harrison has been handling translation projects for the internationally renowned Max Planck Society. Among these assignments, we were commissioned to translate various articles for the annual report presented by the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy.
The Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) in Heidelberg is one of around 80 Institutes maintained by the Max Planck Society. It was founded in 1967 on the far-sighted premise that a supra-regional institute equipped with powerful telescopes was an essential prerequisite for internationally competitive astronomical research. Together with the Center for Astronomy at the University and the Department of Astro- and Particle Physics at the MPI for Nuclear Physics, it forms part of a globally respected astronomical research cluster centered on Heidelberg.
In translating articles for the Institute’s annual report, one of the main challenges Baker & Harrison faced involved mastering the current terminology that applies in this field of research.
